Zinc-nickel single flow batteries have the characteristics of high
energy density, safety, environment friendly, and low cost. The technology of
zinc-nickel single flow batteries were studied deeply and systematically by the
division of energy storage at dalian institute of chemical physics. They
brokethrough the technical bottleneck which was considered as restricting the
power density and energy storage capacity of the battery, which reduces the
system cost greatly. This team has successfully developed the kW-class
zinc-nickel single flow battery. By optimizing the battery structure、improving the way of
mass transfer in positive electrode, the energy efficiency of their battery
could reach 85% in 40 mA/cm2. The battery costs about 1500 RMB per kilowatt
hour.
